Library at the New York Academy of Medicine
New York Academy of Medicine houses a significant historical collection on medicine and public health. Established in 1847 and open to the public since 1878, the Library holds over 550,000 volumes, plus manuscripts, archives, and pamphlets — spanning topics such as anatomy, cardiology, New York medical history, cookery, medical botany, neurology, and women’s and children’s health.
